MEET THE AUTHOR:

 

SerenaCypB is an Italian writer, animator and comic artist.

She's known for drawing "furry" art and her work

mostly focuses on mental health topics, bizarro-fiction, absurdist elements and surreal versions of our

contemporary society. She's mostly specialized in horror stories but doesn't mind experimenting with different genres from time to time, while always adding a bizarre and psychedelic touch to them.

She's the author of the sci-fi/comedy webcomic "NOI" and the horror trilogy "AFTERLINE".

THUNDER: 

​

"THUNDER" is a webcomic written and illustrated entirely by her and was originally meant to be: first, a superhero parody series based on "HEROES" and then, after reconsidering the whole project, it became a personal vent comic portraying a horror/surreal version of her own struggles with MDD. While working on this story she also learned about the mental health distress and struggle in the Māori community in NZ and, after educating herself and getting invested on the matter, she decided to change that premise into focusing more about what she learned about this struggle while following stories and experiences from Māori folks. The author is not part of this culture, but learning about their history and ways has brought a lot of comfort during harsh times and she wanted, at the very least, to try and help a bit to spread more light on the cause through her webcomic and the main character, Aiden. THUNDER is her (maybe a bit clumsy and bizarre) way to show love, appreciation, kindness and admiration for a culture she deeply care about.
